Good afternoon everybody.
We are working on money in Numeracy and are learning about the different ways we can make the same amount using different coins. At the moment, most of us are using contactless so the children are not really seeing money so if you are able to play games at home using coins it would really benefit the children when we come to work on giving change in class.
During Discovery Learning the children are making choices of what learning they want to develop and we have had scientists at work seeing if they could make a tube watertight, they tested it and they had succeeded. Someone else made a toy and shared the rules with the class and we had children testing if the models they made floated in the air. It is really good to see the learning that is taking place during play.
We have used Sumdog and Teach Your Monster to Read in our I.T slots and the children really are enjoying using both.
We are learning to use comprehension skills in our reading slots and will work on these skills over the rest of this term.
This week we looked at the Magic 'e' with e. The children are learning to change the sound to the letter name.
Our Big Writing was retelling the story of the Gingerbread Man. We had a lot of fun as well as looking at sequencing, repetition and sentence structure.
Thank you so much for all the junk modelling materials. We have enough now apart from cylinder tubes. If you are able to collect them for us, it would be greatly appreciated.
We have made split pin dolls this week and the children have taken them home today.
We finished our day with decorating a gingerbread man and they have taken them home in a bag to enjoy later. (Just like the cunning fox)
I do hope the weather brightens up for you all for the weekend.
Miss Shearer
