This week the children have enjoyed visiting the Book Fayre and they also had fun taking part in a Handball taster session. They should have brought home a note with information about a Handball class they can participate in on a Thursday at Dunfermline High School.

Our Numeracy focus this week has been on Information Handling. The children have learned how to collect information using tally marks and use this to draw a pictograph. They have also been learning how to use pictographs and bar graphs to answer questions.

The children were writing stories about a lost toy this week. This was linked to the class book called 'Dogger'. They were trying hard to use connectives and descriptions of feelings in their work.

We are going to create a toy shop window display as part of our class topic on Toys. This week the children drew a sketch of a teddy and used pastels or paint to add detail and texture. Some of the teddies will be used as part of the display. The children enjoyed using chalk to sketch the outline with because it was less scary to make mistakes as it's easily rubbed out.

During project time, the children have discussed their favourite toy and learned how to make an annotated diagram of it. They have also sorted toys according to their materials. We will also discuss which toys are more eco-friendly and why.

Can I just remind everyone that P.E is now a Tuesday and a Wednesday. Full P.E kit is required. Also children should take all jewellery off to participate. It might be advisable to leave it at home on these days, especially earrings. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to help children take them out. If you wish your child to continue to wear ear studs while taking part in P.E, could you please provide them with micropore tape to cover them with as a matter of health and safety. Thank you.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards, Mrs Thomson.
