Good afternoon everyone,

The boys and girls have completed their money focus in Maths. They are all able to find the total of a group of coins and can lay out coins to the value of given amounts. Some children are now able to find change independently for given amounts up to £5. The rest are able to do this with adult support to guide them through the process/working out. I was very impressed with many children's perseverance when presented with a challenging money problem. It was also super to see their confidence developing as their understanding of the money topic developed.

Next week our Maths focus will be time. We will be revising o'clock, half past and quarter past. Then we will learn about quarter to the hour. The children will be looking at digital and analogue clocks.

For Project/Writing this week, the children were given the task of creating a poster which compared modern clothes and jewellery to those from ancient Egypt. They used an information sheet and topic books to research what the Ancient Egyptians wore. They then used their own personal knowledge of modern clothes to draw examples on their poster. The children labelled the clothes to make it easier to see what the similarity and differences between the clothes were. It was interesting to discover that the Egyptians wore necklaces, belts and earrings, as we do today.
A couple of weeks ago the children drew a picture of their dad and wrote a short message to go with it. The pictures were then sent to the Dundee Courier. They are going to feature some of the pictures in a special Father's Day supplement in this Wednesday's paper. I am giving you notice in case you want to buy the paper as a keepsake.
Can I just gently remind you to order your child's dinner through ipayimpact. You also have to register if your child is a packed lunch or home dinner. There are a few children who are regularly having to make their meal choices in school which can be very time consuming. Thank you for your support.

Have a lovely sunny weekend.
