Good afternoon everyone,

I hope the children have enjoyed their couple of days off this week.
On Wednesday the children participated in a fire drill. They lined up calmly and walked quickly but safely out of the building. I was very impressed with the children's sensible attitude towards the drill and the way they conducted themselves.

Later that day, the children had their weekly visit from Monica who is teaching them sign language. This week she played hangman with them so the children could practise spelling the words they had learned in sign language. If they were able to work out what the word was, they were allowed to share it with the class but only using sign language. It was great fun. I continue to be amazed at how much the children have learned and retained.

For Art this week, we continued to work on developing our drawing skills. We drew a scarab beetle and these pictures will form part of a display in the classroom. The children broke down the drawing into different shapes rather than trying to draw the whole of the body in one go. It made it a lot easier and the finished drawings were super. We then carefully coloured the beetles in. The end results are stunning. I will share the completed pictures on Seesaw.

We continued our work on division this week. Some groups were using strategies to solve dividing by 4 problems and others were learning about the link between multiplication and division.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,
Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
