Good afternoon everyone.

We have had another hard working and busy week in P3.

In Numeracy, we have been developing our understanding of the three times table. We have looked at multiplication as repeated addition, learned strategies to help us solve times table sums, learned how to interpret and solve word problems and have practised chanting our 3 x table to help us to learn it by heart.

In Literacy, the children enjoyed listening to the story 'Look What Kate Can Do.' They then wrote about their favourite part of the story giving a reason for this.

On Wednesday, the children used their pirate characters and a copy of a secret treasure map to write a pirate adventure. We spent time as a class looking at the map and coming up with ideas for what could happen at each place on the map. The children then used their own pirate character and wrote their adventure using the class and their own ideas. I was thoroughly entertained when I came to read the finished pieces. There were scary Yetis, rickety bridges, fierce volcanoes with boiling hot lava and squelchy swamps among many other super descriptions.

This week in handwriting we started to practise joined up writing. It was quite tricky and we will be doing joining activities weekly to help us improve.

During Music, the children got the opportunity to join in with the rhythm of a piece of music using drum sticks.

On Friday, Jack, Calvin and Fionnuala got to read out a piece of writing they had created about an inspiring woman they knew. They had completed this piece in line with International Woman's Day. Hayley also wrote a piece and this was read out on her behalf by Abbie Crozier.

In the afternoon, we looked at pictures of transport from the past. We used the 'I think, I see, I wonder' format to record our thoughts and ideas. We had a really interesting discussion using the notes made.

Can I remind everyone to choose their children's meal choices with the app please. It just means less time is taken up with dinners in the morning. Thank you.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards
Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
