Good afternoon everybody. What a lovely start to Term 4 with the sun shining. It really does put smiles on everybody's faces. It is so good that the children are able to get to the field every day for their breaks.
It is hard to believe that the first week back has gone so quickly. We are very busy with a focus on Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing (HWB) this term.
We have made good use of the weather by doing athletics on the field with the children doing the 200/400 m as well as cross country. We will continue with this next week and continue to develop their fitness and stamina.
Our outdoor learning this week was an outdoor scavenger hunt. The children completed the tasks well and really used their 'thinking outside the box' skills to complete their charts.
In our phonics, we explored the 'wh' sound at the beginning and middle of words.
Our Big Writing and HWB focused on the hobbies the children enjoy and how they have adapted their hobbies during lockdown. The children do seem to enjoy a wide and varied range of activities to ensure good health and positive mental wellbeing.
We have worked on adding and subtracting 10/100's from a starting number in our maths tasks.
We now have the added options on Sumdog where the children can use numeracy, spelling and grammar. It is a great resource for the children to use.
Our project this term is the Vikings.
We are enjoying personal reading time on Friday afternoons in class and if the children would like to bring in their own book they are very welcome to do so. It can be used only by them (no sharing) and they can keep it in their bags to keep it safe.
I hope the weather stays really nice for you all at the weekend. Have a lovely time.
Miss Shearer
