Good afternoon everyone,

Project this week has been a team effort. The boys and girls have worked in groups to bring their castle plan to life in the form of a 3d model. The children all worked really hard. They took responsibility for their role in the group and all made excellent contributions to the building of the castle. Look on Seesaw for the amazing finished results. It was super to see so many of the skills and knowledge learned through other project work and homework being used to make the castles.

The highlight of this week was World Book Day. The children all looked so cosy when they arrived at school in their pyjamas. It was the perfect attire to wear when paired with their favourite book to read. Have a look on Seesaw to see the children relaxing and enjoying their books.

As part of book week, the children had to design a new front cover for a real or imaginary book. First we looked at the cover of a published book and discussed what information was needed. We soon noticed that a book cover has to have an eye catching picture, the title and the author/illustrators name. Some children chose to create a book cover for an imaginary book. They were able to talk about what the story would be about and some even decided to write the actual story to put inside the cover. Pictures of the children working hard on their designs and some of the finished covers are on Seesaw.

The highlight of the day for many of the children was the 'Where's Wally Hunt.' The children had to search the balcony area for pictures of Wally. There were 12 to find and all the children were successful. They were rewarded with a wee treat for their efforts.

The children have finally finished their subtraction topic in maths. They finished by completing an assessment of the skills and knowledge that they have learned. They will be starting a multiplication topic next week and we will also studying money before the end of this term.

Finally, on behalf of Mrs Greig, the children and myself would like to thank Miss Irwin who has been working alongside us for the last few weeks. She has been a super asset to the class. The children have really benefitted from her excellent teaching and creativity. We are all going to miss her as she is leaving us to to gain further experience in another school.

Have a lovely weekend. Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
