Good afternoon everyone,

It feels like it has been a very quick week because we have been so busy.

The week started with the children writing about what they would do if they were King or Queen for the day. Many children said they would go somewhere nice on holiday. Others said they would help the poor, enjoy sitting on the throne and own their favourite pet.

For workshop for literacy this week, the children learned how to put words in alphabetical order by their first letter.

The children also started a block of maths on fractions. They revised what half of something means and how to find halves of shapes and amounts.

For writing this week, the children were read the story 'The Crocodile Under the Bed.' I linked it to the Jubilee celebrations. It was about a boy who missed out on the celebrations because he was ill in bed. However, a crocodile arrived from under the bed and took him on his own Jubilee celebration adventure. The children had to then think about an animal that appeared under their bed. They had to think about what place they would be taken and what they would do when they got there. There were lots of good ideas such as penguins that took them down an ice slide in the North pole and cute dogs that took someone swinging through the trees in the forest.

On Wednesday, the class had great fun making and decorating crowns for the class Jubilee fun session on the Thursday. They children spent a long time adorning their crowns with sparkles and jewels. You can see the finished results in the photo and I am sure you will agree that they are fabulous!

Today the children enjoyed a fun session on the field as part of the Jubilee celebrations. They were treated to juice, a cake and a mini packet of sweeties. We played fun games such as the Grand Old Duke of York and Corgi, Corgi, Queen. It was such a lovely time.

I hope you all have a fantastic Jubilee weekend. Mrs Greig looks forward to seeing all the boys and girls back on Tuesday and I will see them on Wednesday. Our trip to the woods will be on Wednesday next week.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
