Good afternoon everyone.

There was a lot of excitement on Tuesday when the children noticed that a pond with frog spawn had been added to our display. This led to a lesson on the life cycle of a frog. The children then used this knowledge to create a pictorial model of a frog life cycle.

For writing this week the children used their knowledge of a frog life cycle to write an information text. They learned that an information text is non-fiction and uses topic words linked to the subject. The children used a wordbank and a writing frame to suppprt them. Look out for the finished results on Seesaw.

The children continued to develop their understanding of division this week. Some children learned how to divide by ten and then by 5 while others looked at grouping amounts.

The children visited the local woods again this week and had an absolute ball. They played a game that taught them about animal survival and also about seed dispersal. The children were given time for unstructured play which is part of our Natural Connections Award challenges. There was lots of tree climbing, creating obstacle courses, pretending to be squirrels and finding places to be a den. As per last week, the children were excellent role models for the school.

Have a lovely weekend. Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
