Good afternoon everyone,

On Monday and Tuesday, the boys and girls took the time to finish their snowman puppets they have made for the Christmas Fayre. They added hats, scarves and buttons to their snowman. They all look super and every one is different.

For workshop for literacy this week, the children listened to the story of 'One Snowy Night' by Nick Butterworth. They then discussed the story and then put some of the main ideas in order. The learning intention for the lesson was, 'I can sequence the main parts of a story.'

In maths, the children were learning about grid reference. We talked about when we would use grid reference and practised finding objects on a grid. Once the children were confident with doing this they were introduced to a real map of the world. They were tasked with finding different countries using given grid references and writing their names. Finally, the children were given the chance to make their own grid reference puzzle. They then gave this to a partner to solve. I was very impressed with their skills and effort.

For writing this week, the children wrote an advert for their snowman puppet. They then used this to help them create a short video advert of their creation. The video was put on Seesaw for you to view and to persuade you to buy their puppet as part of the Christmas Fayre. Some children were very nervous about being filmed but all of them took part and everyone did a great job.

Finally, we have been working hard on creating calendars which can be taken home once finished.

Have a lovely weekend. Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
