Good afternoon everyone,

This week, Mrs Greig introduced skipping as part of run club training. It will help the children build up their fitness and stamina levels.

The class workshop for literacy novel was another from the Flat Stanley series. He visited Australia this week. The children used their prediction skills to guess who he would take to Australia with him. They had to use the connective because to give a reason for their prediction.

Our project has focused on the continent of Australia. The children watched a video clip that introduced them to the experiences of a child in the north of England and a child who lived in Northern Australia. The children then discussed the similarities and differences between the two countries. They then used what they had learned about Australia to create an information poster. The video also prompted a great discussion about all Australia's different native animals.

Some children were working on addition of 2 digit numbers in maths this week. They were learning to add on the tens and then the ones when finding the total. They had the opportunity to use a number square to support them. Other children were mastering the addition facts for the numbers 16-20. They were shown how to use a number line to support their understanding.

The children enjoyed participating in the Children in Need dress down day. They were given the opportunity to take part in a competition to design a bandana for Pudsey Bear. The boys and girls put a lot of effort into their designs.

Your child will have come home with a book bag tonight. This is for them to keep and enjoy. It is provided by the Scottish Book Trust.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson
