Good afternoon everyone,

This week the children enjoyed listening to the rest of the Flat Stanley story. The fun will continue next week when Stanley travels to Australia for new adventures.

This week the project focus was Scotland. On Tuesday the children learned about traditional foods from Scotland. These foods included haggis, neeps and tatties; Irn Bru, tablet, oatcakes, shortbread and black pudding. The children had the opportunity to taste some oatcakes and shortbread too.

For writing and project the children learned about the features of an information poster. They then researched and created their own information posters about Scotland. They included pictures to illustrate some of the traditional food, the traditional clothes, the typical weather and some facts of their own.

The class continued their study of addition facts and strategies in maths. Some children were learning about facts for the numbers 13-15 while other children were learning strategies for solving problems involving addition of a teen number and a two digit number.

The children enjoyed spending their discovery learning time outdoors today. We were very lucky to get dry weather.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
