Good afternoon everyone
This week in Maths, the children consolidated their understanding of place value through the completion of a couple of different think boards. An example is shown in the pictures on this app.

For Reading this week, Mrs Greig read the story of 'Augustus' Smile'. The children then had the task of writing about what they thought the main idea of the story was.

Later in the week, the children wrote their own piece of personal writing about a situation that made them smile. Two examples of writing have been attached to this message.

For Project work this week, the children were learnng about positive ways to deal with frustration and why we need to have rules to keep us safe. They listened to the story of Calum who wanted to skateboard in various different places. The children had to identify why Calum should not choose to skateboard there. They then discussed a safe place for him to play and ways he could calm himself. To finish off the session the children listened to 'Relax Like a Cat' on the Mood Cafe website which is a guided relaxation session and they all felt very relaxed by the end of it.

On Thursday, the children really enjoyed the MacMillan fun day and were a real credit to themselves. This event was followed on Friday by our Race for Life event which was also great fun.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
