Good afternoon everyone,

It was lovely to see so many enthusiastic and excited faces greeting me as I welcomed the children into the class on Wednesday. They all looked super smart in their uniforms too.

We have had a busy but fun start to the term. The children have been introduced to all the areas where they can play and learn during discovery time. So much learning has already taken place during these times including working cooperatively, sharing, following instructions, practising literacy and number skills, using imagination and creating artistic pieces.

The class have listened to and discussed a book called 'Only One You' by Linda Kranz. The book explores the themes of every child being unique and special.

We have talked about the school values and what following them would look like. As a class we have all agreed to follow the values and be the best class that we can be. This will become our class charter.

For Maths this week, we have been practising recognising numbers, counting forwards and backwards in ones, writing numbers and finding numbers between/before/after.

Gym days will be Monday and Tuesday. The children should come to school wearing their gym kit on these days.

Finally, it has been a wonderful first week back. The children's behaviour and effort has been first class. Mrs Greig and I are really looking forward to working with all the boys and girls during this academic year.

Kind regards
Mrs Greig and Mrs Thomson
