Good afternoon,

We have completed our money topic this week by showing we can add amounts of coins together and thinking about which coins we would use for different totals. The children showed real resilience when they found some of the amounts tricky.

We have started reading Michael Morpordo's Puddledub Farm books to tie in with our Farms and Farming topic and we used two of the pages to find nouns. The children are very good at finding and highlighting each of the nouns that name a person, place, thing or animal.

We have looked at the a ..e split digraph this week and are aware of the sound it makes. We were able to find words in our reading books and are making sure we spell these words correctly.

The children are involved with extra practises of the songs we are singing for the Music Festival. Could you still practise these at home for homework? This will ensure they will be really confident to sing in front of others. We are practising with the P4's next Monday afternoon so will not be taking part in gymnastics.

I am excited to be listening to all the children recite their Scottish poem next Monday and Tuesday. I will be choosing 3 to go to recite their poem to Mrs Howie next Wednesday. We looked at the life of Robbie Burns on Monday and explored why so many people celebrate his special day on the 25th January.

Thank you to the three adults who are able to help us on the day of the festival. We still have space for one more helper to join us.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Miss Shearer
