Good afternoon,

We are continuing with place value in numeracy by looking at numbers before, after and in between as well as largest and smallest. The children have also completed work on missing numbers and 'worked out' to Jack Hartmann's video of numbers to 20. We are also practising counting in 5's and 10's.

Our Social Studies lesson this week was exploring needs and wants. We had a lot of good discussion on what we really need to survive.

Phonics this week was using the sw and st blends. I have added some activities on Seesaw to help consolidate these blends.

For our Drawing Club, we read the story Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. It is a lovely story about friendship. The children drew detailed pictures of the boy and then what the penguin could use instead of an umbrella to sail away. After discussing their pictures the children wrote about their pictures. We are working on writing at least 4 sentences and using our sounding out skills to spell words.

Welly Wednesday proved to be a lot of fun as we made our own paintbrushes using natural resources and then painted lovely pictures within a stick frame.  Remember we are outdoors for our activities so only old clothes please as we do get dirty.

I have added some spelling lists on Sumdog so the children can practise maths or spelling at home.

I hope you all have a great weekend and that this beautiful weather lasts.
See you Tuesday.
Miss Shearer
