What a week it has been. We have achieved a lot in Primary 2!

We had a visitor this week. Mr Grew came to see us on Thursday to talk about birthday parties and budgeting. We had to think carefully about which items we would like and make sure we didn’t spend too much money. Some of the party bags for these parties were incredible. One even contained a limo! We all want an invitation to that party. 3D shape has also been a popular Numeracy topic this week. Building shapes with play dough and match sticks was the highlight. We have also been learning the names and the properties of the shapes. You could try looking for some when you are out and about to see if we remember the names!

Our castle topic is still providing us with lots of exciting learning opportunities. This week we were finding out about Medieval diets and feasting. We even did some cooking. The Medieval Gingerbread seemed to be a success, mostly, with some people in the class even requesting the recipe to make at home with their families. The next day the recipe gave us the chance to keep practising our instruction writing skills. We were very good at numbering the instructions and using bossy verbs to make the steps as clear as possible.

In P.E, we continued practising our tennis skills. This week there was a focus on tracking the ball. We played a game called Magpie where we got to hold two rackets that made us look like a bird. We had to stop our partner from knocking off balls from cones behind us.

During our discovery time this week there has been a lot of den building. Bricks and tables have been used to create houses and super hero bases. Zoos have also been popular this week with blocks and boxes holding a range of animals. We even had a Killer Ant exhibit.

We celebrated Red Nose Day by looking at the Power of Laughter. We discussed how laughing can help improve our mood and talked about our happy memories with family and friends. We even had a chance to tell some jokes so that we could share our laughter. It was very exciting to wear our bright colours and wear a range of noses too.

We rounded off the week with Outdoor Learning. This week we were looking for the signs of Spring. We are happy to report that we saw lots of evidence that Spring is here with flowers starting to come through and leaves beginning to bud on the trees.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
