Another busy week in Primary 2!

There was a lot of excitement this week as we have been looking at weapons that were used in medieval times. We went on a weapon hunt around the school to help us answer some tricky quiz questions. Luckily, we only found pictures of the weapons but learnt a lot of new information. This led us on to constructing our own lolly pop Mangonels which we had fun firing during outdoor learning. Hitting the target was a bit tricky but we talked about how difficult armies would have found aiming too.

In Literacy, we have been practising writing instructions. We talked about using time openers and commanding verbs to make the instructions easy to follow for building a mangonel. We have also been learning about antonyms using the class novel, Knight in Training. We looked at words that had opposites in the story and then wrote sentences using these.

We have continued to look at time in Numeracy. This week the focus was the hour before and after with both digital and analogue clocks. The mini clocks were very helpful in working out the answers especially when it was half past.

There was exciting news about an Interhouse Bench Ball Competition at the end of term so we started learning Bench Ball in P.E. There was lots of super teamwork and marking in our games. The best bit was making ourselves into super heroes using the team bibs. We have also been continuing to work on our tennis skills like tracking and hand eye coordination. We were fantastic at playing floor tennis and have now moved on to a mini game.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
