Good afternoon everyone,

We have finally reached the end of our block of learning on subtraction to 20 in maths. The children have learned many strategies to support them with their calculations. They completed the block with a couple of sessions which linked addition and subtraction. This was a challenging concept for many and is an area which will be revisited again during the course of their maths learning journey.

Mrs Greig was very pleased this week because the children have now learned the whole of their creative dance. Not only that, but they are oozing enthusiasm and are giving their very best to their performance. Please see Seesaw for more information on how you can come and watch the dance during our Fairyland sharing the learning morning.

Mrs Greig read the children the story of Little Red Riding Hood. She then used the storyline to teach the children about true, false and can't tell. The children very much enjoyed making up a true fact from the story and their own made up false statement.

We wrote our final fairytale retelling this week. It is a joy to have a class full of children who are so enthusiastic and keen to write. Every child receives feedback about their writing journey each week. This lets them know what skills they are secure with and what their next steps are.

Some children had been talking about mixing paint to make new colours during their play last week. I used this to plan an art lesson to introduce all the children to mixing two primary colours to make secondary colours. The children could paint anything they wanted but only using the colours green, orange and purple made with colour mixing.

Have a wonderful weekend. Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
