Good afternoon,
This week in Numeracy the children have learned how to find doubles and near doubles for totals up to 20. They have also started to investigate all the ways to make chosen teen numbers by adding two or more numbers. On Thursday we investigated how many addition sums we could make for the total of 12. We used Numicon to support us with this.
This week, Mrs Greig read the Gruffalo in Scots. The boys and girls highlighted all the Scottish words they could find in a short passage in the book. The meanings of these words were discussed and then the children illustrated a few of them.
On Wednesday, the children played a game on the Smartboard where they had to match the Scottish words to the the different body parts of the Gruffalo. They then drew their own Gruffalo and copied the labels onto their picture. The children then used their picture plan to write their own Gruffalo description. The descriptions were super and I really enjoyed reading every one.
We have been continuing to practise our songs for the music festival. It is wonderful to hear such lovely singing voices each day.
