Good Afternoon,

What a fun filled week we have had celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We have participated in many exciting experiences from cupcake baking and decorating, to a special Jubilee lunch where we were visited by the Queen herself. On Thursday we ended our celebrations with our own Jubilee party on the field where we create our own fabulous nature inspired crowns, played party games and of course ate our delicious cupcakes.

In other curricular areas, this week we started our topic of pattern in numeracy and mathematics. On Monday after looking at and discussing different types of pattern including stripes, polka-dots, zigzags, swirls etc, we used our knowledge to create a new outfit for the Queen to wear at her Jubilee celebrations. We also learned about repeated patterns this week and learned to copy and continued a colour repeated pattern of red, white, blue to make beautiful paper chain bunting decorations for the class.

Pattern was also the theme for our ‘Welly Wednesday’ activities this week, as we went for a pattern hunt around the local area. We were surprised by how much pattern can be found in nature and had fun spotting different examples of pattern on the house, garages, gates flowers, paths and roads within our local area. Thank you to our volunteers who came to help us on our walk about. We are very much looking forward to doing it all again next week.

As a reminder, ‘Welly Wednesday’ next week will be on Thursday 9th June. Children should come to school dressed in their outdoor learning clothes and bring their waterproof jacket and wellies on this day.

We hope you have a wonderful Jubilee weekend.
