Good afternoon,

Wow!, we have been working so hard and having so much Christmas fun this week that it is hard to believe it is Friday already.

Using Christmas stories as a context for learning this week, we were introduced to the new sounds of `v, w and y' and common words ` yes’, ‘will' and `went' in our Phonics lessons. In maths we were also introduced to pictograms/ block graphs and have been collecting, organising, displaying and interpreting information to help many different people in the lead up to Christmas!  We continued to be very creative this week and on Tuesday we created a rather ‘cute’ handmade Christmas card. We are looking forward to bringing all of our Christmassy creations home to share with our families.

The highlight of our week of course was the filming of this year’s Nativity, `The Very Hopeless Camel`. The children gave a spectacular performance and we are excited to watch it with our families from the comfort of our sofas at home when it is shared with you virtually. The children are also very keen to teach you our finale `hand-jive' so that you can join in too.

We finished the week off with much excitement. Our traditional Christmas party on Friday, with the corners game, pass the parcel and musical statues, followed by snacks and a drink, was enjoyed by all. We also all thoroughly enjoyed watching an online pantomime performance of `Cinderella’ and joining in with all the usual pantomime fun. Some of us even commented that it was ‘really funny’ and the ‘best pantomime ever!’

We are looking forward to even more Christmas fun next week!

Have a lovely festive weekend,
Miss Yorkston and P1b
