Good afternoon,

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the P1b classroom!

We have been very busy and creative little elves this week, using our knowledge of repeated pattern to create paper chains to hang around our classroom. We also learned the technique of wool wrapping to create beautiful mini-Christmas tree ornaments to decorate our own classroom Christmas Tree. The wool wrapping proved to be a little challenging, but Miss Yorkston was proud of the perseverance each of us showed in completing our decoration and our Christmas tree looks very festive.

We are hard at work designing and making our Christmas Craft for the Virtual Christmas Fayre. As soon as they are ready, we will upload a video showing you our creations for you to purchase if you wish to do so.

In other learning news for Literacy this week we completed the third set of letter sounds and are therefore able to recall the sounds made by the letters ‘g, o, u, b, f, and l’. we have been focussing upon recognising each of the sounds as well as reading and writing the Common Words ‘up, on, if, mum, get, got, not, for, but, big back, help, from’. As next week is our consolidation week I will be sharing a list of all common words taught to date, on Seesaw, for your reference when helping your child at home to read and spell these words.

After Joey bear accidently muddled up our number ladder display we seized the opportunity, in Numeracy to help teach him to sequence the numbers 0-10 in the correct order. We also helped him to understand the mathematical words ‘after and more than’, identifying numbers after or more than other numbers. We have enjoyed participating in many different activities including dot to dots for number sequencing and ‘after and more than’ bingo.

Our highlight of the week was learning some Scottish Country Dance steps for the ‘Prince of Orange dance’ during our PE lesson with Mrs Hay. Miss Yorkston had the great privilege of watching our lesson and has shared a video of our performance on Seesaw.

Have a wonderful Weekend and look out on Seesaw for a very special task to complete for Monday.
