Good afternoon,
Once again, another fantastic week has been had.
The highlight of our week was meeting the final 3 of our Jungle Friends who remind us of what makes a good learner. We met Katie Chameleon who reminds us that a good learner can think creatively. Slinky-Linky Snake who reminds us that a good learner can link knowledge and skills gained already to new learning experiences, and we also met Priscilla Peacock who reminds us that we should all show pride in our work by striving to be and do the very best we can. We have demonstrated using these skills in class this week by creatively designing a pair of jeans as part of Primary 5’s ‘Jeans for Genes’ Day competition, demonstrating our very best tidying and using our knowledge of what animals look like to guess which animal was hiding through the binoculars.

We have once again risen to the challenge to complete more ‘Daily Miles’ and were very excited to receive our ‘Daily Mile Passport’ on Monday. The ‘Daily Mile Passport’ is a little booklet with a map inside which has some of the journeys from country to country around the world. With the ‘Daily Mile Passport’ we can keep track of the number of Daily Miles that we do each week by crossing out one pink dot for every mile that we run. When we reach a spot with a country flag, we will receive that flag to mark on our passport.  We were thrilled to learn that we have already made it to our first destination and received our first country flag, France! Some of us were eager to share that we had been on holiday to France before and Miss Yorkston shared that she had never visited but had always wanted to go.  We took this wonderful opportunity to learn some more information about France and learned all about where France is on the map of the world, the languages that the people who live there speak, the food that they eat and its beautiful capital city Paris. We can’t wait to complete more daily miles and reach our next destination.

Looking forward to next week, a photographer from ‘The Dunfermline Press’ will be paying us a visit on Tuesday 14th September to take our class photograph for a very special edition of the newspaper, which showcases all new Primary Ones from all the schools in the Dunfermline area. We are very excited and can’t wait to show the photographer how smart we all look in our Canmore School uniforms.

Wishing you a lovely weekend
Miss Yorkston and P1b
