Good afternoon and welcome to the Summer term, Term 4!

This term began with the arrival of a shop to our class area and with it, endless learning opportunities. Initially we noticed that our shop contained fruit and vegetables which gave us the opportunity to extend our vocabulary and understanding of the different types of shops. We practised our Information Handling skills as we voted for our shop name . We extended our Digital Literacy skills as we learned about logos before creating our own shop logo which we added to carrier bags and the shop sign. We revised the sequence of the days of the week, digital and analogue time and letter formation as we created opening times for our shop. Of course the main purpose of the shop was to create a fun and meaningful way to develop our skills with money and this week we have been learning to pay for items using the best coins. It was also a great opportunity to enable the children to transfer and apply their number and addition skills to solve problems in another context. The shop also provided a context for increasing our Spanish as we learned the Spanish words for `please` and `thank-you` to use in our role-play.
Next week the shop will continue to provide meaningful learning opportunities as we learn where our fruit and vegetables come from and learn to use some of them to prepare and eat a healthy snack.

Another highlight of the week was the introduction of `Welly Wednesday` where we participated in learning outdoors. This week our focus was on exploring and discovering the outdoor school environment . I hope you enjoyed sharing the photos and videos on Seesaw with your child, I'm sure they had lots of commentary to give! Welly Wednesday will continue every week this term, unless shared otherwise.

Have a lovely weekend and remember to return reading books on Monday.
