Good afternoon,

This week brought the spectacular sight of dancing camels, twirling stars,  cheering innkeepers, gifting wisemen, a marching king and advisors and a whole lot of hand-jiving animals, shepherds and Mary and Joseph. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time learning, rehearsing and filming this years Nativity, `The Very Hopeless Camel` and we are excited to watch it with our families from the comfort of our sofas at home when it is shared with you virtually. The children are also very keen to teach you our finale `hand-jive' so that you can join in too.
Our Christmas party was a great success today . A traditional party with the corners game, pass the parcel and musical statues was enjoyed by all. Your child has also brought home a gift for their family, wrapped in their very own Christmas gift envelope ( some of the contents are slightly fragile!)
The fun doesn`t end this week. Next week we will be watching an online pantomime performance of Cinderella and taking part in a Christmas joke competition. Each child in the class is invited to upload a video onto Seesaw  of themselves telling a Christmas joke. If they make us laugh they win a special sticker.

Using Christmas stories as a context for learning this week, we were introduced to the new sounds of `v, w and y' and common words `will' and `went'. We consolidated our recognition of our reading book characters; Mum, Dad, Kipper, Floppy, Biff and Chip and most children can now confidently read their names. We were also introduced to picture graphs/ pictograms, in maths this week and have been collecting, organising , displaying and interpreting information with a Christmas twist!

Remember to vote for Monday's story time book by commenting on the Seesaw post.

Have a lovely festive weekend,
Mrs.Davie and P1a.
