Good afternoon,
There certainly was a chill in the air this week and the children talked a lot about the colder weather and the darker nights. We learned that these are two of the signs of Autumn. On Outdoor Learning Day we looked for other signs of Autumn and did indeed tick off many of the signs on our Autumn checklists.
Autumn is fast becoming our favourite season with colourful leaves to play in and festivals such as Halloween and  Bonfire NIght to celebrate. In class we learned the history and customs of Bonfire Night and also how to keep ourselves safe. To tell others, we created safety posters and displayed them around the school.
Another highlight this week was taking our first reading book home and I hope you enjoyed listening to your child telling you the story. Generally, reading books will go home on a Thursday with the return day being the Monday but please see the record sheet in your childs reading pack for definite dates.
We also learned about number 7 this week. We learned how to form it correctly (using the number rhyme for support), that it is an odd number, that it comes after 6 and that we can make 7 in many different ways such as 4+3, 6+1 and 7+0 etc.
The week concluded with a House Theme Event where we designed a new mascot for our house. We look forward to seeing the winning designs.
Have a lovely Bonfire Night weekend.
Take care
Mrs.Davie and P1a.
