Good afternoon,

We started our week by looking at the calendar page for June and couldn't quite believe that we had only two weeks left of P1/2, and what a busy two weeks it will be, with lots of fun and exciting learning experiences to look forward to!

In Maths we were learning about money. We learned about different methods of paying for items when we go shopping including coins, notes, debit/credit cards, gift cards and vouchers and explored real-life examples of each  We then learned to recognise 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins and played a variety of games to support us. Our favourite game was 'the Rolling in Treasure' game. Some children will benefit from a bit more practise by looking at coins with you at home. Our focus next week in Maths will be to count coins in multiples of 1ps, 2ps 5ps and 10ps.

On Wednesday we were a little sad to received our final letter from Little Red Riding Hood. In her letter she thanked us for all our amazing hard work in helping her friends with their problems and set us one last challenge to create a new basket so that she can carry treats when she visits with her Grandma. We worked with a partner for a final time and used all our problem solving skills learned throughout this term to create our baskets.

The highlight of our week came on Thursday when we shared a special afternoon on the field with the P1's and their buddies, playing games, dancing, chatting and of course snacking! We all thanked them for being there for us this year and wished them all the best for high school! P2's were excellent helpers at the party and also had fun joining in with the activities.

We concluded the week with a virtual `Meet the teacher' and are looking forward to working with our new teachers in P2 and P3

Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Yorkston and P1/2
