Good afternoon,

After our long weekend we were all very excited to come back to school and share with each other our adventures and activities which provided a great stimulus for our writing this week. We continued to practise our sentence structure and some of us were adding detail to our writing by adding connectives, adjectives and even writing more than one sentence.
Also, in Literacy this week, P2’s were learning to read and spell words with the ‘al’ sound including the words walk, talk, and hospital. P1’s practised the sounds made by ‘th, oa, oi, sh, ch, ng and ue’, learning to spell words and write sentences with each sound. After sharing our reading books, and developing our common word recognitio,n we practised completing sentences from our stories by finding the missing words.
In Numeracy, P1’s learned how to 1/2 the numbers 2,4,6,8 and 10. We hope you enjoyed learning our strategies and watching us in action on Seesaw. Primary 2’s consolidated their understanding of halving numbers and learned how to find ¼ of numbers.
The highlight of our week was participating in the ‘flat races’ that we were unfortunately unable to do as part of our Sports Day. Mrs Hay commented on how impressed she was with the speed in which some of us were able to run and the Sportsmanship we demonstrated towards each other after each race.
Have a fantastic weekend,
Miss Yorkston and p1/2
