Good afternoon everyone,

I hope the children have enjoyed their couple of days off this week.
On Wednesday the children participated in a fire drill. I was very impressed with the children's sensible attitude towards the drill and the way they lined up calmly and walked quickly but safely out of the building.

In Numeracy, we continued our work on subtraction. Primary ones continued to use pictures, this time to take away 3. We then progressed to using concrete materials and fingers, to support us in subtracting larger numbers up to 10. Some of us found this a little challenging so we will continue using this strategy again next week. Primary twos were learning to use their mental strategies of ‘counting back’ as well as their understanding of place value to support them in subtracting a single digit to a teens number. We too will continue this learning again next week.

In STEAM, we were thrilled to receive yet another basket full of clues and the opportunity of solving another problem for another Fairytale character. This time we had to create a beautiful throne for Cinderella. Working co-operatively with a partner, we demonstrated creative thinking and reasoning and made many successful and beautiful thrones. We don’t know how Cinderella is going to choose just one!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
