Good afternoon,

I can’t quite believe that today is the last day of Term 3. It has been lovely to be back in school with all the children and their hard work and enthusiasm has made for a lovely end to the term.

This week for Literacy we have been learning the phonic sound 'er' and have been learning to read and spell words with the 'er' sound. We have been practising spelling our common words including the words ‘her, other, number, and water.’ In Writing this week, we all developed our sentence writing skills and wrote a sentence to share our plans for our Easter Holidays. It sounds like we are all going to have very busy and exciting adventures on our holidays.

Our term was brought to a close with a fun Easter themed day. We were  delighted to discover that we had a surprise visit by the Easter bunny who hid chocolate eggs throughout our class area this morning. This provoked an enjoyable Easter egg hunt, and everyone worked well together to find everyone’s Easter eggs.  After break we practised using the ‘counting on strategy’ where we put the biggest number from the sum in our head and add on the second number using our fingers to complete an addition colour- by- answer Easter bunny and Easter egg worksheet. (Please see Seesaw video posted on Thursday 25th for an example of this strategy in action)
In the afternoon we enjoyed sharing the Easter story `Hop'.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and a super Easter.
I look forward to seeing all the bright smiley faces back in school after the break as we welcome in our Summer term at Canmore!
