Good afternoon,
After seeing a seagull flying off with a piece of litter in his beak, we were all left completely horrified and this sparked a week full of learning about litter and recycling.

We shared our understanding of the word `litter' and discussed the effect of litter on our environment. We then used Newsround stories to raise awareness of how children all over the globe are working towards improving the situation. This got us thinking about how we can help improve the litter situation in our playground.

As a class we decided to create posters to remind others in the school that they should never drop litter and always put it in the bin! We have also agreed to undertake some litter picking in our school playground during break times and lunchtimes. This has proven to be a very popular role! Many children too are continuing their endeavour around the areas in which they live and are proudly sharing their news of what they have been doing with us in class.  Our Reconnector today has highlighted the 'World Cleanup Day' on Saturday 19th Sept around the world.

I have been so proud of the respect, responsibility and commitment demonstrated by everyone this week. Keep up the great efforts!

Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend.
