Good morning everyone,

We have had lots of enthusiastic and hard working children in class this week. Most children are working very hard to follow the school values and demonstrate a positive attitude to their work.

On Monday, the children were introduced to a story called 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. This became the stimulus for their two drawing club sessions. On Monday the children drew a picture and wrote a description of a main character. On Wednesday they created a mysterious sea creature who could have been lurking under the ocean. The children had to focus on using the taught sounds they know in their spelling, capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

The primary Two children continued their work on numbers to 20 this week. Some children worked on ordering numbers and finding 1/2 more/ less than. Others were working on accurate counting skills.

The Primary One children continued their work on patterns. They made colour patterns using lolly sticks and multilink. The children also continued colour patterns on a snake outline. They finished the week's maths with a challenge to create their own pattern using the class loose parts materials.

For outdoor learning this week, the P1 children did a litter pick with Mrs Davie's primary one class. The P2 children consolidated their accurate counting skills by finding given amounts of natural materials and by following instructions to do an action a set number of times.

For project/health and wellbeing the children completed a lesson which taught them to consider all the people who help and look after them. This led to a lovely discussion and then some drama work where the children had to produce a still image of someone helping another. The rest of the class had to guess what the still image was portraying.

Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
