Good afternoon everyone,

This week the Primary two children worked on sharing equally among groups. For example, they had to share 12 equally among three groups. This is different from last week where they had to group amounts. For example share 12 into groups of 3. The children were given cubes to support their understanding of this concept.

The Primary one children were assessed on  place value of numbers up to 20. All of them demonstrated a good understanding of all concepts.

Both Primary one and two will be starting a new maths topic on 3D shape from next week.

For Colourful Semantics this week, the children were challenged to make their own silly sentence using the structure we have been working with. Their sentence had to have a who, doing, what, where and when word. There were lots of good ideas for funny sentences and the children really enjoyed reading theirs out to the rest of the class. The majority of children managed the correct word order.

On Thursday, the children took part in a Sport's day practice. They had a chance to participate in the races and potted sports that will be taking place next week. It was a little cooler than the rest of the week but the children still gave it their all. I am sure next week will be a fantastic event.

I do hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend and I will see the children on Wednesday.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
