Good afternoon everyone,

There was a huge amount of excitement this week because the boys and girls finally got to perform their dance at the dance festival. Mrs Greig was a very proud teacher because everyone performed to the highest standard and were excellent role models for our school. Their performance was enjoyed by other classes from our own school and other schools in the cluster.

On Tuesday, the children were delighted to be able to perform their dance to the adults. If you made it along to the performance, I hope you were suitably impressed with the children's efforts. The children continued to find enough energy to then perform their dance to the rest of the school. Again, the pupils who spectated were amazed at P1/2's efforts.

For maths this week, the P2 children finished working on ordering numbers to 100. They also completed a check up of place value work completed so far. This will help Mrs Greig and I see what each child is understanding and what needs to be revisited.

P1 continued to work on subtraction. They worked on subtraction from 6, 7 and 8. Next term they will work on subtraction from 9 and 10.

All the boys and girls were given the opportunity to explore the robot mice again. They had the chance to try out some more complex challenges and many children worked well together as a team. They used good computational skills to break down the problems and with some support were able to debug any program. Some children found the robot mice tricky and will need the opportunity to explore activities like this again. They will need to work on perseverance and problem solving.

P1 learned the new sound er this week. We talked about the fact that this can sometimes sound like ur in words like Easter depending on our accent.

For art this week, we used a watercolour wax resist technique to make lovely Easter egg pictures to decorate the front of our Easter cards. We hope you like them.

Finally, it has been a very busy term and the children have learned lots of different skills and gained a huge amount of knowledge from all the varied activities completed in class. Every child has made progress in their learning and deserve to have a lovely fun filled Easter break.

Have a wonderful holiday.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig.
