Good afternoon everyone,

It has been a busy and fun week in Primary 1/2.

On Monday, Primary 2 children finished their assessment of addition to 20 and the Primary 1 children made their 9 and 10 Numicon trains.

For the rest of the week, the Maths was a money focus. The children worked on coin recognition and identifying the pound and pence symbols. They also learned about the value of each coin and were given the opportunity to put the coins in order.

There was great excitement on Monday because the chidren had a visit from a real author at Reconnector time. Her name was Christine Hodghton and she is the author of the Archie's Tales series of books. She very kindly read two of her stories and answered lots of questions from the chidren.

This week, Colourful Semantics focused on the who, doing, what and where of the sentence. The children were given the challenge of creating sentences using a picture scene from Santa's grotto. The lesson was very successful. It really made the children think about word order and when to use correct punctuation.

There was a lot of excitement today because everyone got to visit the Christmas Fayre. Mrs Greig and I are very proud of the children because they worked extra hard on their crafts. I am sure you will agree that the crafts are super. We hope that, if you were able to attend, you had a fantastic time and were able to stock up on lots of lovely goodies.

Have a wonderful weekend. Mrs Greig and Mrs Thomson
