Good afternoon everyone,

It was lovely to have the opportunity to meet some of you at parent's night on Wednesday. Mrs Greig and I are looking forward to meeting more of you next week.

In Numeracy this week, the Primary Two children were either focusing on counting in twos, starting with both even and odd numbers or comparing two numbers to find the larger or smaller of the two.

The Primary One children focused on learning the days of the week and the meaning of the words yesterday/today/tomorrow. This was done through singing days of the week songs and discussing our weekly timetable. The Primary One children were also given the opportunity to count amounts and compare numbers to find the largest or smallest.

In Literacy this week, the focus was around the tale of the 'Billy Goats Gruff.' Mrs Greig supported the children to draw a detailed picture of how they imagined the troll to look like. All the children were able to use their drawing to orally describe their troll.

On Wednesday, the children had to use their imagination to think of a way to rescue the troll after he had been knocked in the water. There were lots of interesting ideas including using a fishing rod, a dolphin saving him and a grabbing machine. It really is super to see the children's enthusiasm to draw and write.

On Thursday, we continued our project/health focus on people who care for us. The children had to choose someone who cares for them and make a thank you card to show the that they are appreciated. It was lovely to hear all the reasons for the cards being made.

Today the children enjoyed taking part in some Jeans for Genes activities. They took part in a design a new tshirt/hoodie competition and Jeans for Genes walk. The Primary One children were kindly accompanied by their P7 buddies.

We hope you enjoyed the school fayre this afternoon. Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Greig
