Good afternoon everyone,

Our drawing club story and theme this week was 'The Magic Porridge Pot.' On Monday, all of the boys and girls drew a picture of the magic wizard. Some children also wrote a description of the wizard. On Wednesday, the children had to think of another potion/spell the wizard might make and what he would put in it. They then drew a detailed picture of this and some children also wrote about it. There were lots of super ideas including a potion to turn you into a superhero, a potion to make you fly and a potion to make your hair smell of strawberries! Lots of skills were being used including fine motor control, pencil grip, imaginative talk, letter formation and phonics.

The Primary Two children continued their focus on place value skills to 20. Some children were continuing to establish their recognition of all the teen numerals. Other children were working on number sequencing and numbers before/after/between. The Primary One pupils were working on their visual discrimination of numbers, practising writing numbers and the numbers to ten sequence.

Outdoor learning was great fun this week. The children continued to explore the different parts of the playground. They got the opportunity to play on the trim trail without having to share with the other classes. They also got a chance to do den building with Mrs Taylor which proved a big hit! It was lovely to see all the cooperative play, perseverence and resilience being demonstrated.

P2 practised some of the phonic blends from last year to reinforce and revise them. The P1 children played listening and rhyming games to encourage them to listen careful to the words and sounds that they were hearing.

Can I please ask you to double check that you have completed your child's dinner order for next week. There were a few children over the last couple of days without a lunch choice and some confusion over whether a choice should have been a packed lunch or a dinner. Thank you very much for your support on this matter. It really does save lots of time at the start of the day.

Have a lovely weekend.
