Good afternoon,
This week we have been continuing to learn ordinal number as we opened the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th doors of our Story Advent Calendar. We have also been learning to recognise the numbers 11- 15 and talk about their place value, e,g 11 is made of 1 ten and 1 one. The numicon numeracy resource is a fabulous concrete resource in which to develop this understanding.
Also in maths, we have been learning to collect, organise, display and interpret information on picture graphs and block graphs.

In literacy we have becoming aware of traditional tales and tales from other countries as we share the Advent Calendar Books. We have also been learning to instantly recognise the written names of the main characters from our school reading scheme in preperation for the next level of reading book in January.
We also learned to recognise the letters l, f and b which now complete our third set of 6 letters. Next week we will consolidate this six: g, o, u, l, f, b and the reading and spelling of the associated common words.

Of course the highlight of this week was performing our class Nativity, `A Present For The Baby`. It was lovely that so many of you made it along to see just how wonderful the children were.

Although disappointed not to be performing their Nativity again, the children are all very much looking forward to our P1/ P2 Christmas party next Tuesday afternoon.  The children should come to school in their party outfits that morning. As the children will still be enjoying the fresh air at break and lunchtime please ensure sensible shoes.

Have a lovely festive weekend and I hope that those catchy Nativity songs leave your heads soon!  I am certainly looking forward to waking up without the words to the songs on my lips ( and so is Mr.Davie!).

Mrs.Davie, P1 and Ted.
