Good afternoon,

This week we learned to recognise, write and say 3 new sounds: r, m and d and to read and write simple phonetic words including: him, and, had and dad. Consolidation week next week, will allow children to become secure in their recognition of this second block of 6 sounds (h, e, ck, r, m and d) or if already secure, then to become confident in reading and spelling simple phonetic words.
Floppy, the pet dog in our schools reading scheme, was the focus of many stories this week. The children have now been introduced to the 6 main characters and are beginning to share their ideas, feelings and opinions about them.
In maths this week we have been continuing to add to 5 increasing our mental recall of the facts to 5 as well as exploring the numbers 6 and 7 and learning the add facts for these 2 numbers.
The highlight of the week was making our first product to sell at the Canmore Christmas Fayre on Friday 8th December. Resulting from learning about birds who stay behind in Winter, the children wanted to make bird feeders. We threaded cheerios onto pipe cleaners and shaped them into loops to hang from branches in the Winter. They will be sold for 20p each at the fayre. Next week we will make our second product.
 Have a lovely weekend,
 Mrs.Davie, P1 and Ted.
