Good afternoon,

This weeks favourite book was a pop-up book entitled, `Emergency Rescue`by Jonathon Emmett and Christyan Fox. It was a fantastic way to revise People Who Help Us In Our Community. On Tuesday the children used this book as a springboard for thinking about the wider world of work and the job they might like to do when they are adults. They shared their plan in writing , transferring last weeks common word learning of the word `want` to produce a good sentence with many common words spelled correctly.

As part of our Health and Well-being curriculum, the children also learned how to get help in an emergency. They learned about dialling 999 and to ask for the relevant service. The children also realised that in order for the help to reach them, they must also know their surname and address.

In phonics the children learned the sound made by oo and ee and learned to read and write the common words: too, look, looked and see.

In maths the children are continuing to develop subtraction skills. This week we moved away from pictoral support and the children were learning to use their fingers, cubes or `counting back` as supports instead.

We concluded our week with some role-play in drama and the children are becoming more confident in producing still pictures of themselves in  role.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie, P1 and Biscuit.
