Good afternoon,

This week we welcomed in the month of May. To practise ordering the months of the year we sang our Months Of The Year song which you will have enjoyed on Tuesday's Seesaw. We are also beginning to be able to use the rhyme to help us work out the month before and  the month after any given month. You will have received a calendar page for May and the children have been excited to share what entries they have made on the page at home. It seems that there are many swimming lessons and clubs to look forward to in the month of May!

In Numeracy, we have been subtracting without pictoral support, instead using our fingers, counters or counting back in our heads to answer sums such as 10-3=.  Rhymes such as "10 Green Bottles hanging on a wall" and "5 Current Buns In A Bakers Shop" have been helping us count back mentally.

In Literacy, we learned to read and write the common word `down', we learned the sound made by oi, and we practised using non-fiction books . We also learned the terms "true and false" and were using these new words to answer questions about the characters and events in our reading books.

We developed our use of mime and movement in our Drama lesson about going to the red planet and enjoyed recording our ideas in artwork.

We have certainly packed a lot into this shorter week.
Have a super weekend
Mrs.Davie and P1.
