Good afternoon,
We have had a super start to Term 4 and the weather has welcomed us back beautifully.
We started the week by sharing what we did during our Easter holidays . This provided us with a relevant context to practise our sentence writing. Most of us are now starting sentences with capital letters, ending them with full stops, leaving finger spaces between words, spelling common words correctly and having a good guess at those words we do not yet know how to spell. We also identified our next steps in writing as improving our handwriting and letter formation and felt very grown up participating in a handwriting lesson later in the week.
It was exciting for the children to learn that one of their classmates got a pet hamster during the holidays. This provided the perfect teaching opportunity to learn about fiction and non-fiction books as we set about helping our classmate find out about how to care for her new hamster.
In Numeracy, we are coming to the end of our addition topic as we strengthen our facts to 10, i.e learning the 2 numbers which add together to make a given number to 10. The children are practising sums such as 4 + ? = 10.
A highlight this week was being able to develop our gymnastic skills outside in the fresh air on and around our trim trail in the playing fields.
Hopefully this lovely weather will follow us into the weekend. Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie and P1.
