Hi Everyone!

As the end of the term draws close the pupils have been pulling out all the stops to ensure they achieve their learning targets for Term 2 - Well done P6/7!

In our literacy work we have been busy completing application forms, editing adverts and finishing off our Manga/Anime Pikachu comics which I am sure you will agree are very imprressive.  We have now completed our Japanese Topic and the work is home with your child.

Term 3 will arrive soon and we have already brainstormed the elements of our Conflict Topic. P6 are really looking forward to learning about WW1 and P7 WW2 and Conflict around the world. We have also ordered class sets of the novel War Horse which we will begin reading on our return in January.

In our number work we have looked at using money this week and pupils completed tasks with a seasonal theme purchasing a Christmas meal, toys from the Tesco catalogue and calculating change from varying amounts.

In our ICT lessons pupils completed their Rotary Junior Photography Entries and some of you have these home for parental permission - please ask yourr chlld to check their bag and return this on Monday.

A massive thank you to everyone who paid for the Christmas Fayre craft - we hope you have them on display! Please remember to send money in sealed envelopes with names on the front and return any outstanding PTA Raffle Money or Christmas Family Quiz .

There were many highlights this week including creating our Christmas Message which will give you a giggle, our final Hockey Training with Douglas Hill from Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club and of course, the Junior Sports Leader Applications - well done Cari and Dylan who have now been appointed to this Committee.  We also watched the Online Panto Cinderella thanks to the generosity of the Carnegie Trust - this was so funny - and in the current circumstances it was a great way to ensure the children got to experience the pantomime.

In our STEM session we took on the Paper Chain Challenge: Infinity Loop and the pupils learned there were many techniques to creating paper chains to explore their durability and length. We took on a POM POM challenge on Friday - loads of fun!

Our Christmas party was an exciting and fun end to the week. Our Winter Ball committee organised party games, Secret Santa, A Christmas Photo Booth, Strip the Willow dancing, served drinks and sweeties and choc ices and the hall was filled with lots of laughter and love - they all did a great job tidying up afterwards too!  The atmosphere was incredible and the children all had hot happy faces by the bell. It finishes the term on a high note - well done everyone! (photos on SEESAW)

Next week is a short week with a few seasonal crafts planned. We hope to hold a WW1 Christmas Party on Tuesday afternoon which will let the children compare the experience to their own party (should be very interesting to see how different things were without any devices and pupils will all receive a small orange which as I'm sure you know was a real treat in those days).

Congratulations to Emily Hands our Social Target winner.

A wee note for your diaries - Tuesday 21st pupils will have GYM with Mrs Hay and Music with Mrs Baxter.  Pupils are welcomed to wear christmas jumpers/tshirts gym clothes Tuesday and Wednesday - our last day.

Relax and enjoy the weekend - I look forward to seeing everyone for the final few days of the year.

Mrs Watt & P6/7
