Today, the Police were called into class!  No, not to arrest anyone, but to help keep the children safe – internet safe!  PC Laird came into class to discuss how we keep ourselves safe online and what dangers to look out for.
One of the first things he asked was who had a Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat account? All those who put their hand up were shocked to learn that they were actually breaking the law as the minimum user age for these is 13. This led to a very good discussion about how people do not always tell the truth about their age online!

PC Laird continued on to talk about a wide range of subjects. These included; being aware of posting personal information, tracking through the GPS properties of photographs, changing your passwords to a ‘pass phrase’ rather than a ‘password’, the age you must be to use some computer games and how to report problems through the use of the Report to CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) button.

The children finished the morning much more knowledgeable and internet aware!
